World Press Photo of the Year - лучшие фото за 2008 год

Международное жюри 52-го конкурса World Press Photo Contest выбрало черно-белую фотографию американского фотографа Anthony Suau лучшим фото 2008 года (World Press Photo of the Year 2008). Далее предлагаю к просмотру работы других победителей в некоторых наминациях.

Говоря о лучшей пресс-фотографии 2008 года, председатель жюри — американка Мэри-Анн Голон (Mary Anne Golon) заявила: «Сила этой фотографии — в ее двойном смысле. Она выглядит как фото о военном конфликте в то время, как речь идет о выселении людей из дома. Сейчас война в ее классическом смысле приходит в дома людей, потому что они не могут платить по ипотеке».

«Теперь люди будут думать: вот что происходит со всеми нами,» — сказал другой член жюри — Акинбоде Акинбий (Akinbode Akinbiyi) из Нигерии.

По мнению также входящего в жюри Айпери Эсера (Ayperi Ecer) из Швеции, сделанная Суо фотография иллюстрирует реалии сегодняшней жизни по всем мире. «2008 год — год конца доминировавшей экономической системы,» — подчеркнул Эсер.

Жюри World Press Photo 2009 также присудило призы еще 63 фотографам из 27 стран мира за фотоработы в 10 категориях. Среди лауреатов — три российских фотографа. Юрий Козырев из фотоагентства Noor занял первое место в категории «Портреты» за снятое в Багдаде фото женщины и сына. Работающему в «Атлант медиа» Александру Тарану присуждено второе место за серию фотографий в категории «Спорт». Он представил на конкурс репортаж о проходившем в ноябре в Санкт-Петербурге чемпионате мира по самбо. Алексей Бушов занял третье место в категории «Природа» за снятую в Намибии фотографию охотящегося на антилопу леопарда.

2 мая на торжественной церемонии победителю конкурса будет вручен приз в 10 тысяч евро и фотокамера Canon EOS 5D Mark II. Денежные призы получат и победители конкурса в различных категориях. 4 мая, в столице Нидерландов в Старой церкви откроется выставка победивших на конкурсе фотографий, которая будет там проходить до 28 июня. Суо сможет представить на ней в рамках персональной выставки и другие свои работы. После Амстердама выставка World Press Photo 2009 будет показана в более, чем сотне других городов мира.
